Shady Cove: Where Upper Rogue River Recreation
Opportunities Abound
After starting as a small alpine stream near
Oregon's Crater Lake the Rogue leaves the steep Cascade mountains and enters a
peaceful little valley that lies halfway between Ashland and Crater Lake. Here,
on the shores of a quiet Rogue river lies the community of Shady Cove. From
Shady Cove recreation enthusiasts can raft, fish, kayak, hike, and more on or
near the Rogue. And, after a day of outdoor activities you can catch a great
meal and reflect on what tomorrow's adventures might bring!

info on the Shady Cove area please see below:

Shady Cove Lodging: For a
nice riverside motel we suggest the Edgewater Inn. It has a great
observation deck and rooms that look right out on to the Rogue. Another option
that is a nice Rogue River Bed
and Breakfast option just outside Shady Cove is the
Rogue River Guest House.
This friendly and unique place is also located right on the river in the
historic town of Gold Hill, Oregon.
Shady Cove Dining: We recommend
the Two Pines Smokehouse which is hmm,
hmm, good! And it has a great atmosphere. Be sure to check out their smoked
barbecue selection! This place just seems to go with what you did all day in
the area and is a top Shady Cove
restaurant.
Shady Cove Jet Boat
Rides: There are no jet boat trips in Shady Cove itself. You will need to
head to Grants pass and Hellgate Jetboat
Excursions which offers a variety of trips up and down the Rogue river
including tours through the rapid-filled Hellgate Canyon.
Rogue River Fishing Guides in Shady Cove.
We, again and again, recommend Rogue Excursions for great
Rogue salmon fishing trips and
steelhead trips. Call 800-797-4293 for info.
Shady Cove Rafting: Most rafting on this
section of river is self guided thanks a good selection of raft rental
companies. We recommend Get Wett for Shady
Cove raft rentals and kayak rentals.
There are also lots of hiking,
biking and lake-based recreation opportunities at nearby
Lost Creek Lake.
