Rogue River Rentals: Raft and Kayak

For those seeking a raft or kayak trip on
the Rogue without a guide or outfitter there are a handful of rental options
throghout the valley. From Shady Cove to Galice you can find companies with a
wide variety of rental gear.
The two most popular sections of the Rogue
river self-guided trips are the Shady Cove section and the Galice section.
These sections are most popular for a variety of reasons: the rapids of this
section are class III or lower; permits are not required; and the road
parallels the river, allowing for easier shuttles.
Those wishing to
travel the Wild and Scenic section without a guide or outfitter will need to
apply for a permit from the Bureau of Land Management. In addition, this
section of river is 32 miles long with virtually no river access by road. As
such it is a more complicated section of river. It also features more
challenging rapids than the Shady Cove and Galice sections.
